The one word every child wants to write
Motivation is not usually the limiting factor with name writing, which makes it the best possible vehicle for teaching letter formation properly. A child who will not do a page of l's will do a page of their own name.
It is worth using that willingness on correct formation rather than letting them draw the letters however they invent — habits formed here are the ones that last.
Why the capital gets its own line
A capital letter appears exactly once in a name and then never again, so it gets a fraction of the practice the other letters get — and it is the letter children reverse most. Giving it a dedicated line evens that out.
