Color it, cut it, fold it into a little house

This is the free version of the fold-and-glue paper house kits sold on Etsy for a few dollars each: color it however you like, cut around the outside, fold the dashed lines, and glue one small tab to bring it together into a standing house.

  • Prints as a flat coloring sheet that folds into a 3D house
  • One tab to glue — no tape, no extra pieces
  • 10 printable styles, from plain black-and-white line art to pre-tinted panels
  • Free to download, no account or watermark

  • An optional second page of numbered cut, fold, and glue steps

What you can change

  • Color Your Own, Full Color, or Low Ink
  • Easy, standard, or detailed build
  • Optional assembly guide page with numbered steps
  • 10 printable styles, or set your own accent color
  • Ink saver mode: no filled headers or shaded rows

  • US Letter or A4

How to make yours, in about a minute

  1. 1

Pick Color Your Own for plain line art, or Full Color to skip the coloring.

  2. 2

Print it on US Letter or A4 — thicker paper holds a fold better.

  3. 3

Color the walls and roof before cutting anything out.

  4. 4

Cut around the solid outline, then crease every dashed line first.

  5. 5

Roll the walls into a loop, glue the tab behind the front wall, and set the roof on top.

What's actually printed

One sheet holds four walls in a strip — front, side, back, side — plus a peaked roof piece below it. The walls wrap around into a box shape; the roof folds down the middle and sits on top. Dashed lines are folds, solid lines are cuts.

Assembling it

Cut around the outside of both pieces first, then fold every dashed line before gluing anything — a crease made after gluing tends to crumple instead of folding cleanly. Roll the wall strip into a loop, glue the end tab behind the first wall, then fold the roof down its center ridge and set it on top.

Coloring it

The Minimal style prints as plain black line art, meant to be colored by hand with crayon, marker, or colored pencil. The other three styles arrive with the walls already lightly tinted, for a faster project or a younger child who'd rather glue than color.

Questions

What do I need besides the printout?

Scissors and a glue stick, or tape, are enough — no extra materials required.

What age is this good for?

Cutting and folding is generally manageable from about age 6 up with some help; younger kids can color the flat sheet before an adult assembles it.

Can I make it bigger or smaller?

Print at a different scale from your printer's settings — the proportions stay correct at any size.

Are there other shapes to build?

Yes — see the matching paper robot, rocket, and building crafts.
